Retired registered nurse, Eloise, sits down just long enough to talk about her enthusiasm for the hands-on educational classes at Community Homeworks.  Whether it’s a simple toilet repair or fixing a torn screen, she is implementing newfound skills and then sharing them with family and friends. Listen to her contagious energy as she talks to Nancy about her passion to learn more about home maintenance and all she has accomplished - with plans to just keep on going!

Volunteer Tool Librarian, Johnny, sits down with Nancy for a candid discussion about the mechanics of tools and life. In his flannel shirt and relaxed manner, Johnny is the salt of the earth, whether he is fixing a tool or making coffee. He's curious, authentic and full of stories about helping people know what they don't know. As he loans tools, he builds empowerment and pride with an enthusiasm and joy that is contagious. Listen as he talks about the importance of respect, availability and creating community - one project at at time.

Handy@Home fan favorite, Harry Jachym, sits down with Nancy to talk about his years as an educator. From Detroit Public Schools to the classroom at Community Homeworks, this instructor is an expert in not only home repairs but also insisting that the learning process be fun, casual and interactive. He’s definitely the ‘real deal’ not to mention he’s as kind as the day is long. Did he miss his calling as a comedian? Perhaps - but that’s just fine because he’s slated to be on the starting lineup for classes this year - and we can't wait!  
 

Talia Coleman, Business Development Banker for Mercantile Bank, sits down with Nancy to talk about her personal and professional interest in the Mission of Community Homeworks. From her experiences as a little girl to her role as a banker, Talia tells all. Her heartfelt stories are about empowerment and an excitement to increase her current skills as she helps others.

He describes the "home office" of our Construction Team: that 99-year old home with significant repair needs... and a homeowner in distress. Zack combines the heart and soul of the team with the necessary expertise as he describes a 'day in the life' at Community Homeworks.
